"Dedalus have unearthed a series of aptly decadent titles where elements erotic and grotesque combine. „The Dark Domain” is a collection of psycho-fantasies, doom-saturated tales of lonely men lost in hostile terrain, but the East European melancholy lifts to provide wonderful odd scenes, like the watchmaker whose death stops all the town clocks and the phantom train that always turns up unannounced, surprising the station staff. Majd' száz éves, klasszikus lengyel horror, a lélektani fajtából. :) Igen, ilyen van. :)
Csupa melankólia, éjszaka, homály, sár, csupa kísértetiesség, lélektelen mechanizmus, csupa ásás a tudattalanban.
Értő kézzel készült a válogatás.

Unquestionably, nothingness – absolute, boundless emptiness – would be a horrible thing; on the other hand, maybe nothingness would be better than some frightful reality of another world. For who can know what that other reality really is? And if it is something monstrous, isn't non-existence preferable?

„[…] I only wish the deepening of life. Life flows in wide, dense waves, in occurrences tied together so compactly that their divisions into years, months, days, hours, minutes and seconds is absurd. Your notion of time is simply a fanciful concoction drawn from imaginary theories.”
„Isn't time a beautiful idea? Have you read The Time Machine by that famous English author?”

Eventually he reduced the doubts which tormented him to this dilemma: Either there is something 'unusual' beyond me, something fundamentally different from that reality which I know as a human being – or else there is nothing, a complete emptiness.
If someone were to ask him which of these two possibilities he would have preferred to meet on the other side, Odonicz wouldn't have been able to give a definite answer.

For Wrzesmian had believed in what he had been writing; for he had acquired as time went on a firm conviction that any thought, even the most audacious, that any fiction, even the most insane, can one day materialize and see its fulfilment in space and time.
„No person thinks in vain; no thought, even the strangest, disappears fruitlessly,” he used to repeat many times to his circle of friends and acquaintances.
