Will Monroe's normal life is disrupted when his wife is kidnapped while he is reporting on a story of a militia man found dead in his isolated log cabin. Further investigation into the death brings Monroe to the conclusion that the dead militia man shared an attribute with a New York City pimp, also recently murdered. They were both described as being 'righteous'. As more murders of 'righteous men' happen across the globe, time seems to be running out for Will and the old and current friends he has enlisted. With a series of clues from a mysterious source, absurd twists and religious factors Will soon finds himself in the middle of a plot to bring about nothing less than Judgement Day.

Sam Bourne: The Righteous men

Smart, intelligent, creative, deep, fascinating. An adventure the reader enjoys every step of the way. Very well thought through. Each sentence makes the story alive. The mastery of words is fascinating. A comparison or half sentence burst the images into the mind that are very clear and work on senses and imagination intensely. For me it is a masterpiece.

Will's instinct was to deflate moments like this. He was too English for such overt statements of feelings. He had so little experience of expressed love, he hardly knew what to do with it when it was handed to him. But now, in this moment, he resisted the urge to crack a joke or change the subject.

It began in her hair, with an aroma of sunshine and dewberries that might once have come from a hampoo, but combined with her skin to produce a new perfume, one that was entirely her own. Its epicenter was the inch or two of the skin just below her ear. He only had to nuzzle into that nook to be filled with her.

A shiver had run down his spine as TC had spoken. Maybe it was all just crankish hokum, but this series of lines and circles, drawn so many hundreds of years ago and taught down the generations only to those deemed able to cope with its secrets, seemed to radiate a kind of power.
