Alex pulled out his iPhone. „Damn, how am I supposed to make an entrance without little human on my arm?”
„Name.” Mason barked.
„Calling her human is my term of endearment, like sweetheart or babycakes.”
„Call me babycakes, and I'll scratch your eyes out,”

„So…” His voice was hoarse. „Tell me about… school.”
„What?” I gasped, my voice sounded like I'd spent the night screaming at a concert. „School?”
„Yeah, your studies… about immortals. Tell me about it.”
„Immortals suck.” I sighed. „If I disrespect you enough, will you kill me?”
His lips twitched as if he was fighting a smile. „Not now, no. It would be like killing myself.”
„And that's supposed to deter me from wanting certain death?”

„You watched cartoons. All day?”
„I made steak…” Mason fidgeted with his hands. „…for when she'd return. I thought maybe we could share it.”
I glanced back at Genesis. „She would like that.”
„I figured it would give her something to look forward to.”
„Sharing meat with a wolf?” I smirked.
„And watching cartoons.” Mason pulled a seat up to the bed. „And it's worth a shot. Maybe kiss her, then tell her about the steak.”

„Does your face itch?”
„What?”
Mason shrugged. „Does it itch?”
„No.”
„Do you smell berries?”
„Huh?”
„Just answer the question,” he growled.
I sniffed the air. „No, I smell… wood burning.”
He grinned. „Then you aren't a werewolf.”
„Gee, thanks.”

„But I'm ugly,” I blurted. „To you I'm ugly. We're ugly, we're nothing, we're—”
Ethan shook his head slowly. „And that's the greatest deception of all.” His hands moved to my chin. „To us you're not ugly. You are absolute perfection.”
„To a Dark One,” Mason continued, „you're life itself.”

„I'm not a pet.”
„Believe me when I say I treat my pets very well,” he said in a low voice. „No complaints. Ever.”
„Good for you.” Arrogant much?

Ethan hung his head and whispered, „For my sacrifice… I'm the bad one in this scenario?”
„You became the bad one in this scenario the minute you heard your mate's screams and didn't come running. Now get out.” Mason growled the last part so loud my ears started to ring.

„You chose me.” His voice cracked.
„Well…” I licked my lips, just looking at his mouth at my body, yearning for his touch. „It was either you or the guy with the creepy voice.”
Ethan's delicious mouth broke out into a smile. „Does that mean you don't find me creepy?”
I examined the fangs protruding over his plump lips. „You're a different kind of creepy.”

„Where's Mason?”
It shouldn't have pissed me off.
But it had.
„He's none of your concern,” I spat.
„Easy!” Alex chuckled. „Rule number one, don't ask your mate where the other dude is. Just… don't.”
Genesis blinked at Alex then back at me. „Because you guys have the capacity for jealousy.”
Alex whistled while Stephanie laughed.
Immortals were the most jealous beings on the planet. Had her school taught her nothing?
