Rachel Van Dyken: The Consequence of Seduction

Reid Emory has never had reason to question his luck with the ladies. As the owner of a lethal set of aqua-blue eyes and a devastating grin, this Hollywood heartthrob always brings his A game…but lately his luck seems to have run out. The actor is in need of some help, and there’s only one person he can trust to take his love life—and his career—to an explosive new level.

Jordan Litwright’s newest client is trying her patience. As a publicist, she’s more than content to stay in the background and let others shine. But when a publicity stunt backfires, she suddenly finds herself thrust into the spotlight—as Reid’s new love interest. And while other men usually overlook her, Reid is focusing in with laserlike intensity. There’s no denying they have serious chemistry.

But once Reid breaks into the big time, can they turn their made-for-the-media romance into a forever love?

Rachel Van Dyken: The Consequence of Seduction

„This book was completely ridiculous.
But in the best way possible.”

Me: Your brother is certifiably insane. Has he been locked up before?
Reid: Arkham Asylum wouldn’t take him.
Me: This saddens me.
Reid: Just don’t ask him anything related to the Joker. You’ll get a hell of a long answer.

Jordan flashed me another terrifying look that had me taking a step closer to the door. Almost there. Freedom. So close. I reached for the doorknob just as she said. “I know!”
My entire body felt like it had just been electrocuted. Looking back on this moment, I’d recognize it for what it really was— somehow she’d channeled whatever superpowers Max possessed and shifted the universe, deciding my future, my destiny, without ever asking my opinion in the first place.

Her frizzy hair had yet to calm down, and if anything it had doubled in size and was cheerfully growing to the tune of “Stairway to Heaven.”

“Why are you winking at me?”
Twitch, twitch, twitch. “I’m not winking!”
He pointed. "Yes, you are. Stop it! It’s weird! I don’t know if I should wink back or just stand here.”
“It’s a twitch! A nervous tic, you moron!”

The man had crazy hypnotic eyes. They were an aqua blue that I could have sworn full-on shimmered after I stared at them too long. Note to self: don’t look directly in his eyes for fear that clothes will spontaneously pull themselves off my body.

“The mall.”
“The mall?” I repeated. “What did I do at the mall?”
"You gave the eyes to a puppy, man. Not cool.”
"It was a badass puppy!” I said defensively.
"There are ways to look at puppies, Reid, and there are ways to look at puppies. Feel me?”

“Bless your heart, you don’t even know.”
“Know?” I repeated.
“Your balls.” He nodded. “They’re getting old."
"They are not!” I jerked away from him. “I’m twenty-eight!”
"Next stop forty,” Max said under his breath. “Should we pick out your coffin? I’d go with oak. It’s always so nice— soothing, really.”

“It’s sad when your balls start to work against you by rejecting all traces of females in your vicinity. I’ll add them to my prayer list.”
“Please don’t pray for my balls at the dinner table.”
“Silly, we pray for them in bed.”

He moved back into the room and touched my face. His finger came back with a dollop of whipped cream. With evilly seductive eyes, he dipped his finger into his mouth and moaned. “You’ve had this on you since the beginning of the meeting.”
"That was mine.” Right. That’s what I was going with. The whipped cream he’d just tasted off my face was mine. At least I was semi owning the situation, right?

“Jordan.” Becca’s voice sounded on the other side of the door; she knocked and then walked in. “I see Little G gave you a nice wake-up call?”
I frowned at the gecko. “Does he often do that? Just roam around wherever he pleases?”
Becca snorted. “He’s like Max in gecko form. What do you think?”
“That thought alone makes me want to sleep with the lights on at night.”
“Me too.” Becca grinned. “And I sleep with the man.”
"Knife under the pillow?” I asked, genuinely curious.
