Hungary was never known for its automobile industry. In the 1960s and 1970s Ikarus buses gained international recognition, but passenger car production never reached substantial levels – until Suzuki and Audi set up their assembly plants in the 1990s.
However, there were both government-sponsored and individual attempts at creating microcars, sportscars, electric cars etc.
This book gives you an overview of these prototypes, one-off creations and failed experiments.
You can read about the weirdly awesome Hungarian microcars, including the Alba Regia, Balaton, Surányi and Sigma. There are details on the Pente, the Borbála and many more.
