Swanwick igazi kortárs SF (és fantasy) novellista. A klasszikus témák felújításában ugyanolyan erős, mint a merész új ötletek megvalósításában. Eredetileg a Darger & Surplus és a techno-tündéres írásokért szereztem be a könyvet, de a többieket sem bántam meg. Kifejezetten szimpatikus volt, hogy hard SF történeteiben az emberi tényezőre összpontosít. Előnyösen jött át a szerző bújtatott humora, főleg a dinoszauruszos és időutazós novellákban, és hangulatteremtésben is kitűnő. Mindössze két rövidke sztorival nem tudtam megbarátkozni az egész könyvben. Minden SF-olvasónak ajánlanám, de kénytelen vagyok szólni, hogy Swanwick időnként eléggé komoly nyelvtudást igényel.
