Vigyázat! Cselekményleírást tartalmaz.

It's not been a good morning for Thraxas. A vindictive judge has just fined him every guran he has, and two old enemies have threatened his life. And to cap it all, the rainy season has started and it's as wet as a mermaid's blanket in the magical city of Turai. He desperately needs a winner in the big chariot race. And he needs a job. But not even Thraxas with his sorcerous investigating skills could have predicted that his two requirements might just be connected in a strange and potentially disastrous way.

Martin Scott: Thraxas at the Races

She picks up the flagon of wine. For a second I think she’s about to throw it at me—Senators’ wives are notoriously bad-tempered—but instead she puts it to her lips and pours a healthy slug down her throat. She coughs violently, throws up on a very expensive-looking rug then keels over unconscious.
We stare at her body, prostrate on the floor in a pool of wine, vomit and broken glass.
“I’ll never really fit in with polite society,” says Makri.
I shake my head. “Senators’ wives. They get worse every year.”

“I can’t function without beer.”
“Aren’t you the person who always ridicules these dwa addicts for wasting their lives on a stupid drug?”
“That’s not the same thing at all,” I inform my smart young companion. “Beer is a normal healthy part of any man’s diet, particularly a vigorous man like myself. It’s part of our culture and heritage.”

„What’s the point of having so many Sorcerers if all they can do is make up horoscopes for handmaidens?”
