Kristen Ashley: Mystery Man

Értékelésem a GR-en:

I just cannot believe this book exists, was published.
I am afraid that not only my English but my mother tongue are too poor to describe my feelings about this… hmm… thing.

I looked at the „shelves” or „genres”.

They say „romance/romantic” in the first place. Oh yeah, it is very romantic being f*cked by a complete stranger for 18 month; being dumped not 24 hours later he promised you to care for you gently; being a sexual object, a „filling” for a man who cannot accept „no”; and when this man changes his mind and wants Gwen back, she (!!!) apologizes for being a „selfish cow”. Yeah, really, really romantic!

They say „adult fiction” and yeah, Gwen is 33 but she speaks and acts like a brainless teenage girl. She is an irritating, pathetic and shallow slut with no self respect.
It is ironic that Gwen is a book editor but this thing sooo poorly written I sometimes thought I would go mad. Not once I had to re-read sentences to understand what it was saying. Misspelled words, bad grammar, run on sentences, missing punctuation and repetition of the same words and phrases… Oh my, I think I will never want to read the words „babe” or „baby” again (there are more than 300 of them), and if I will read another sentence beginning with „then” I will screeeaaaaam (980 „then” in the book:) Even an „F” is too good for this sh*t.

And yes, I wrote sh*t.
They say it is „erotic” but I have read and translated more than 50 romantic books by now (historical and contemporary) and I say f*cking is not necessarily erotic, and the sex scenes in MM are lame and lukewarm at best.
And while I am at it I have to say I did not like its language, not the least. I do not really like swearing but can accept if it adds to the dialogue. But swearing in this book… OMG… mostly unnatural and awkward, totally purposeless and… too much for me (stats again: there are 234 f*ck/f*cking/f*cked, 352 sh*t). Really, Gwen is a book editor, Ms. Ashley is a book writer, you would think they have at least some kind of normal vocabulary.

What else?
This thing is vulgar, primitive, insult to the readers' intelligence. The story is totally unbelievable with dull dialogues and long and boring descriptions of places, things (clothes and shoes). The hero is an arrogant, alpha jerk, male chauvinistic pig, and the heroine is a perfect fit brainless chick for him.

Ashley's Mystery Man is the worst ever piece of literature I've had the displeasure of reading.

Kristen Ashley: Mystery Man

Mivel később vettem észre, hogy nem értékeltem… :D
Az írónő stílusa nem tetszik, borsózik tőle a hátam. A történet nem jött be és a karaktereket sem szerettem meg.
A főhősnő buta és a viselkedése sem győzött meg. Ismeretlen pasi, azt sem tudom ki az, de végig kell hallgatni, hogy dögös. Aha, ennyi a lényeg.
Ez volt a második könyv az írónőtől és ebben is csalódtam. Itt adtam fel. :( Nem nekem valóak.

He, on the other hand, wasn't hot. He needed a shower and a sandwich. He was way too skinny and not in a slinky, ultra-cool, rock 'n' roll Steven Tyler way but in a need to lay off the coke in a serious way way.

„About five seconds after I left you today, things between you and me, they changed,” he informed me in a quiet voice.
I felt my brows draw together as my mind processed the fact that this was not good.
„Changed?” I asked. „How?”
„You got attitude, the kind I like. So I decided I'm gonna ride that attitude wave of yours, see how things work out.”
I blinked. Then I did it again.
„You're going to ride my attitude wave?”
