Szinte pontosan azt kaptam, amit vártam: hatalmi harcokat, szerelmi történeteket, last minute fordulatokat történelmi részletekkel tarkítva, olvasmányosan megírva. Szerettem is, de a könyv közepe felé elkezdett egy picit zavarni az, hogy Follett mintha kényszeresen emlegette volna a szexualitást – nem olvastam tőle eddig olyat, amiben ne szerepeltek volna hasonló jelenetek, így nem önmagában ezzel van problémám, még csak nem is a megfogalmazásukkal (bár kétségkívül igaz, hogy nem éppen ez az erőssége), hanem azzal, hogy esetenként úgy éreztem, hogy jobb ötlet híján nyúl ehhez az eszközhöz, hogy fenntartsa az olvasó figyelmét vagy éppen előremozdítsa a történetet.
Cselszövevény, gyilok, ööö szerelem. :) Műfajában ötös. Fenntartom, hogy Ken Follett tud a legjobban negatív figurákat teremteni.
