Sparks will fly . . . Passion will ignite . . .

Crystal Brook has always been the dud Savant in her family; paranormal powers just aren't her thing. Dropping out of school with a clutch of 'E' grades and no future, she lives in the shadow of her high-flying sister Diamond. On a trip to Denver, a chance encounter with the dashing Benedict brothers leaves Diamond head over heels in love and engaged to be married. Crystal, on the other hand, is unimpressed by their charms . . . in fact no boy can annoy her as much as Xav Benedict! Back in Venice, their families assemble for Diamond's wedding and a powerful enemy seizes the opportunity to attack. Crystal and Xav must join forces to save their loved-ones, unlocking a secret that, until now, has lain deeply buried . . .

Joss Stirling: Seeking Crystal

Ez volt a legjobb a 3 történet közül.
Az elején ugyan kicsit idegesítő volt Crystal önsajnálata, de a végére egészen magára talált.
Xav és a lány közötti párbeszédek és a poénok is nagyon tetszettek.

Joss Stirling: Seeking Crystal

’Admit it: say, „I am a swan”.’
’You are a swan!’ I gasped, falling into giggles again.
’Urg! Confess!’
’OK, OK, I am a swan. We both are. Everyone is. There: we are a whole flock of swans.’

I’ve never aspired to be an action hero, never developed the upper body strength for more than lifting my coffee cup.’

Hell-on-skis, can you hear me? This is flying cupcake.
Go ahead.

As for your guy here, he’s bearable as long as he keeps his hands to himself, Xav conceded.
He only kissed me once and it was nothing like yours.
Glad to hear it. He paused. Mine were better, right?
I couldn’t help teasing to lighten the unbearable tension we were both feeling.
They were different, that’s for sure.
Better different or worse different?
His arm tightened around my waist, a warning to go carefully. I turned into his embrace.
His was kind.
Kind? Xav turned the word over in his mind. That doesn’t sound very impressive.
Oh, I was impressed that he cared to shelter me from the press pack.
And what? Wasn’t I a little Miss Innocent?
How did it compare to mine? he growled.
His gave me a little thrill I have to admit … but yours blew my socks off.
He kissed the space between my eyebrows above the bridge of my nose, urging the memory to stick.
Good. Just you remember that, Crystal Brook. And I can do much better, I promise.
I bet you can. It’s a shame now’s not the time to find out.
Yeah, when everyone’s safe, you and I have unfinished business to settle.
I suppose we do.

‘Xavier, you have given me more grey hairs than all my sons put together.’ Saul frowned, then corrected himself. ‘To be fair, you and Zed. Just try not to add to them tonight.’

'You see, you are looking at your pilot. I have the licence and five years’ experience.’ He winked at me. ‘Got tired of falling short of the action hero image so decided to go make it real.’
A banana bobbed up out of the bowl on a collision course with the back of Steve’s head.
‘Xav!’ cautioned Will. The banana flipped over and settled in Xav’s hand like a gun.
‘He really, really bugs me,’ he muttered to me. I snatched the piece of fruit, peeled it and stuffed the end in Xav’s mouth.
‘But just at the moment, he’s our new best friend so play nicely.’

‘I have a best to bring out?’
‘Oh stop that, Crystal!’ she said smartly. ‘I don’t know where you got this idea that you are ugly.’ From the mirror? I thought. ‘It is most ridiculous! I have heard enough of it. You are one of those girls whose faces are arresting, not merely pretty. Hundreds of women can do pretty; few can do stunning.’
My jaw dropped. Then again, a cattle prod could do stunning.

‘You are one complicated chick.’
‘Chick!’ He laughed. ‘Knew you’d rise to my bait! Just knew it. You’ve got to realize, darlin’, that “tease” is my middle name.’
‘Oh, really? Did you know that “punisher-of-those-who-call-girls-chicks” is mine?’
‘Nope. That really trips off the tongue, doesn’t it?’
