Landing a summer job at the Ridley Hotel's glamorous health club is great at first, but as Mary Elizabeth makes her nighttime rounds at the pool, where every sound echoes and the cold neon lights cast eerie shadows, she is uneasy. Then one night a ghastly shadow surges up from the pool and terrified Mary Elizabeth confronts a face – eyes wide, mouth gasping – that slides beneath the surface of the pool and is gone when the doubting chief of security checks his monitors.
Danger surrounds Mary Elizabeth. Someone is watching her. Or is it just her imagination? Thank heaven for her friend Francis. He"s four inches shorter than Mary Elizabeth, but he's brave and romantic, and when he offers to help her she feels safer. But there isn't much time. Whoever is behind the ominous series of events at the hotel must be someone Mary Elizabeth knows; a person who stop at nothing – even murder.
