That Boy is a contemporary romance about falling in love with the boys next door.

You know, being friends with two cute boys does have its benefits.

There's Danny. Danny is a golden boy in every way. He has dreamy blue eyes and blonde hair that always looks perfect, even when it’s windblown or been stuck under a football helmet. He’s the boy every girl crushes on. The boy I get into trouble with, the boy I fight with, the hot quarterback no girl can resist, not even me. Being with Danny is like being on an adventure. He has a bright, contagious smile and abs to die for. He’s pretty much irresistible.

Equally crush worthy is Phillip. Adorable, sweet Phillip, who I have known since birth. Phillip has dark hair, a perfect smile, brown eyes, and the sexiest voice I have ever heard. He’s the boy I talk to every night before I go to sleep. The boy who rescues me, the boy who can read my mind, the boy who is always there for me, the boy who tries to keep me out… (tovább)

Jillian Dodd: That Boy

Girls go to college, to get more knowledge.
Boys go to Jupiter, to get more stupider.

Because I grew up around Danny and Phillip, I discovered the truth about the male language very early in life. What I learned is there are three basic responses that most guys will use when shouldered with the major task of having to answer the question, How do I look? by the fairer sex.
Although I have never confirmed it, I am convinced that boys are taken aside in school, probably in fifth grade when the girls watch the film about getting their periods, and are taught the following three responses:
You look like shit. (Translation: You look bad. Just go back to bed and start over tomorrow. I really shouldn't be seen with you like this.)
You look fine. (Translation: You look good enough to be seen with.)
You look hot. (Translation: I want you.)

Actually, it seems like a bit much for any date. Although, I don't think I could even categorize this as a date yet. Because technically, it takes two people to have a date, and I refuse to count the limo driver.

"Why don't I take you shopping tomorrow night? And if we find a dress, I'll take you to Johnny's for pizza.”
I was really amazed by this development because Dad has told me for years that he is allergic to shopping. Advil must help his shopping allergies because he took three before we left the house.

How come a boy can be so stupid, but a Daddy, who actually used to be a BOY himself, can be so wonderful?

“Let me get this right, Jay. You want me to show you how to have sex?” He has a huge goofball grin on his face. “Wow. Well, I suppose that could be arrang….”
“WAIT! WHAT??!! Sex! Danny, what are you talking about?”
“What are you talking about, Jay? You're the one who said you've never done it and that you want me to show you.”
“I never said that!” Well, wait a minute, maybe I sorta did. “I mean if I did say it, it's not what I meant.”
Now he's staring at me like I'm psycho.
Probably, I am.
“Shit, Danny, the truth is, I've never really made out.” There, I said it. “And I really, really, need to know how to do it right."

It is the second time in a week, no less, and the first time really, that he has used my name and hot in the same sentence. Except for something like, Jay, it's REALLY smoking HOT out here, why don't you go grab us some drinks?
