The world is in trouble. Time is going wrong, moving too fast, or too slowly, whisking people away into the future and the past. It is rumoured that an ancient timekeeper holds the key to this chaos. But no one knows where it is.
When the evil Regalia Mason and menacing Abel Darkwater join in the search for the Timekeeper, the resourceful and courageous Silver finds herself up against not just two nasty adversaries, but time itself, in a nail-biting race to find the Timekeeper, and save the world.
A fantastically action-packed and exciting novel in which la brave girl, her trusty friend and a run-down old house prove that no matter how big the problem may appear, there is always something that can be done to make a difference.

Jeanette Winterson: Tanglewreck

Kedves mese, hasonlít a His Dark Materialhoz.
Az egyik legjobb poén benne, hogy a nyulat Bigamistnak hívják. :D

'That's just Dinger. The most famous animal experiment in history. He's got his own website and fanclub, like Bambi or Shere Khan, or Dumbo, except he's a real cat and not a cartoon.'
'But he's dead!' said Silver.
'He's dead now, he'll be alive again later.'
'How?'
'He exists in the sum of all possible states. It's his wave function.'
'How can a cat be dead and alive at the same time?'
Ora sighed. 'It's like this. The wave function of the cat exists in all possible states – dead, alive, eating, sleeping, running, washing. You see, atoms and other small particles, the basic stuff that we are made of, well, that basic stuff can simultaneously exist in more than one state at once…
'Only when an observation is made – call it a measurement, or an observation, whatever you like – well, only then do these tiny bits of you and the cat definitely enter one state or another. The cat used to be shut in a closed box and threatened with a vial of poison that would be triggered by the atomic decay of a radioactive substance. Until the box was opened, no one could know whether Dinger was alive or dead – and as the single atom that triggered the poison could be both decayed and not decayed at the same time. You can't know till you open the box.'
'But he's dead now!' said Silver.
'And when you open the box again, he'll be alive. He's a quantum cat.'

I had a lovely home in Manchester with carpets and central heating and Darts Nights with all my friends, and now I live on a windswept hill in this riun, with YOU.

Nobody's got any time nowadays, rush, rush, rush. Well, here we are, and theres no time left. I reckon Time's running out like everything else on the planet – like oil and water and all that.

Anyone who refused to follow this new calendar was branded a heretic. For a long time – in fact, 170 years – this included every person in England.

Silver shrugged. She knew better than to argue with grown-ups. You had to wait until they forgot about you and then get on with things.

[About parallel universes] It was so simple; everybody knows that all the radio stations are playing at once, but we only tune in to one at a time.
