Chad Gamble, all-star pitcher for the Nationals, is one of the best players on—and off—the field. And right now, the notorious bad boy wants Bridget Rodgers. But with her lush curves and snappy comebacks, the feisty redhead is the kind of woman a man wants to settle down with…and that’s the last thing Chad needs.

When the paparazzi catch them in a compromising position, Chad’s manager issues an ultimatum: clean up his act or kiss his multi-million dollar contract goodbye. To save his career, his meddling publicist says he'll have to convince everyone Bridget isn’t just his flavor of the week, but his girlfriend.

Being blackmailed into a fake relationship with Chad Gamble isn’t easy, especially when the sizzling physical attraction between them is undeniable. With a month to go on their arranged pretense, it's going to take every ounce of willpower they have not to fall into bed together…or in love.

J. Lynn: Tempting the Player

J. Lynn: Tempting the Player

J. Lynn: Tempting the Player

J. Lynn: Tempting the Player

Wait.
It was a Friday night, she was at a club, and a good-looking man was currently giving her the I-want-to-take-you-home-and-I-hope-I-last-longer-than-five-minutes look…and she was thinking about pie, a young adult book, and feeding her cat.
She was so turning into the cat lady at twenty-seven.
Sweet.

Oh, here the f**k we go again. “You kissed me back. “
“I didn’t have much of a choice.” Her hand had tightened around the glass. “Just like I don’t have much of a choice right this second.”
The way Bridget said that made it sound like she was about to take a job shoveling pig shit. “It could be worse. I hear I’m a pretty good catch.”
“Yeah, when you were named Sexiest whatever alive last year, when you were still relevant.”
“Ouch.” Chad’s brows shot up, and he laughed, genuinely amused. “I’ll be expecting a written apology when I’m named again this year.”
Bridget eyed him over the rim of her glass. “If that happens, then I seriously question the taste of American women.”

He didn’t want anyone except the redheaded vixen.

“All of you look lovely tonight.”
Vanessa’s eyes rolled. “Chad—forever the charmer.”
“He needs to talk to my husband,” Tori added, and several of the women laughed. “You know what Bobby said to me tonight? That I looked like the best cut of steak.” Her eyes rolled. “You can take the boy out of Texas, but you can’t take Texas out of the boy.”

“I’m so glad you could make it,” Mrs. Daniels said, squeezing the damn life out of him, but man, he loved those hugs. She pulled back, the skin crinkling around her eyes as she smiled. “Is it possible that you get more handsome every time I see you?”
“Ew, Mom!” Maddie’s voice carried from the kitchen.
“It’s entirely possible, Mrs. Daniels.” Chad winked.
Mr. Daniels swung an arm over his wife’s shoulder. The man was as huge as a bear. His apocalypse-ready Santa was at least three times bigger than Chase’s. “Sorry, Chad, I try to keep her paws off you.”
“Oh, he knows my eyes and hands are for you.” To prove her words, she grabbed Mr. Daniels’ ass.
Mitch poked his head out and curled his lips in horror. “Not something I wanted to see. Ever.”
Mr. Daniels huffed. “Yeah, well, you’ve obviously been grabbing a lot more than your wife’s—”
“Dad,” Mitch groaned. “Really?”
From beside the Christmas tree, Mitch’s wife Lissa grinned and rubbed her swollen belly. “It’s true.”
“My family’s insane.” Mitch disappeared back into the hall.

Chad stared at his publicist/babysitter/daughter of Satan. “Jesus, woman, I do not envy the man you end up with.”
Miss Gore’s smile was pure evil. “Neither do I.”

After getting an earful from Chase about “dating” his woman’s good friend and then putting up with Chandler’s snide-ass comments about going the way of every guy around them and settling down, Chad was ready to bang his head through the wall when his cell went off.

“I liked that dress.” He nodded at the green one she’d held.
Walking over to him, she straightened the edges on the scarf. “I do, too.”
“Then try it on.”
She bit down on her plump lip, and he was jealous. He wanted to bite it—lick it. “It’s too expensive.”
He reached into the pocket of his jeans and pulled out a lollipop he’d stolen from the counter when they’d come in. “How much is it?”
“You don’t even want to know.”
Tearing off the wrapper, he popped the lolli in his mouth. “How much?”
“Too much,” she replied.
“How much, Bridget?”
She sighed and her eyes narrowed. “It’s a little shy of fifteen hundred.”
Chad didn’t even blink. “Try it on.”
“But—”
“Try it on.” When she didn’t budge, he arched a brow. “Or I will.”
Her stern expression slipped away as she giggled. “Is that supposed to convince me? I’d die to see you in that dress.”

His brother answered the door, decked out in a sweater that had Chad laughing so hard he was afraid he was going to drop the gifts he’d brought. Bright green with a knitted jolly Saint Nick, holding a sign that read: EVEN SANTA IS PREPARED 4 ARMAGEDDON. R U? MERRY CHRISTMAS!
“If you say one word,” Chase said, holding open the door, “I will kick your ass.”

Without warning, a blob of orange jumped up onto the arm of the couch. Chad turned, brows rising as Pepsi stared back at him. “That is the biggest cat I’ve ever seen.”
As if Pepsi had understood the difference between big and fat, the cat eased down off the arm and tentatively approached Chad. She held her breath.
Chad reached out and scratched the cat behind his ear. “What’s his name?”
“Pepsi.”
“Pepsi?” Chad laughed. “Why that name?”
She smiled. “I found him in a Pepsi case when he was a kitten. The name stuck.” Surprise flickered through her as Pepsi climbed onto Chad’s lap. “I’m shocked that he’s letting you pet him. He’s not that friendly.”
Chad glanced at her, a wicked gleam. “What can I say? Pussies love me.”
