A unique anthology of all-new stories that challenges authors to throw down the gauntlet in an epic genre battle and demands an answer to the age-old question: Who is more awesome—robots or fairies?
Rampaging robots! Tricksy fairies! Facing off for the first time in an epic genre death match!
People love pitting two awesome things against each other. Robots vs. Fairies is an anthology that pitches genre against genre, science fiction against fantasy, through an epic battle of two icons.
On one side, robots continue to be the classic sci-fi phenomenon in literature and media, from Asimov to WALL-E, from Philip K. Dick to Terminator. On the other, fairies are the beloved icons and unquestionable rulers of fantastic fiction, from Tinkerbell to Tam Lin, from True Blood to Once Upon a Time. Both have proven to be infinitely fun, flexible, and challenging. But when you pit them against each other, which side will triumph as the greatest genre symbol of all…

Ugyanakkor a kedvenc történetem (Alyssa Wong: All the Time We've Left to Spend) pont hogy Team Robot volt.
Seanan McGuire: Build Me a Wonderland (Team Fairy)
Sarah Gailey: Bread and Milk and Salt (Team Fairy)
Jonathan Maberry: Ironheart (Team Robot)
Madeline Ashby: Work Shadow / Shadow Work (Team Robot)
Jim C. Hines: Second to the Left and Straight On (Team Fairy)
Alyssa Wong: All the Time We've Left to Spend (Team Robot)
Look, the thing about robots is, they get more interesting the more they resemble humans. Passing the Turing test, developing true artificial intelligence – robots are only cool when they grow more familiar. Fairies, on the other hand, become more interesting the less they resemble us.
That said, any semblance of neutrality or favoritism toward the other team on our part should be considered a carefully planned feint. We were always on your side. Unfortunately, half of the authors in this anthology chose poorly, but the other half always knew you would emerge triumphant. You should also be made aware that for those situations in any of these stories in which a human has gained the upper hand against you, the blame is to be placed squarely on the author. (We tried to warn them.) As you will see from their author notes, some were also writing under duress. Please, do not judge them too harshly.
„Don't follow conventional wisdom,” said the HR rep. „If a problem hasn't been solved, that means you are meant to solve it! Think impossible… and then make it happen!”
„Being sad is normal.” Sigrid pushed forward, and her assistant trundled along beside. „It's despair that is the enemy. Despair is like a badly sealed window. It allows all manner of things to leak inside. That's what it means to be haunted. To be cursed. It's when something takes root in the soul, the way mold can take root in the walls.”
