Jasmine know two things: one, she loves her vulnerable sister unconditionally, and will fight to the death to protect her from anyone who upsets her. Two, she's only ever been good at one thing – her job helping business start-ups.

So when she’s sacked and sent on gardening leave, Jasmine realises that she has nothing else to fill her life. Bored and twitchy, insomnia keeps her awake and staring out of her bedroom window, and she soon finds herself watching the antics of her neighbour, shock jock Matt, with more than a casual eye. Matt is also taking a forced leave of absence from work, after one of his controversial chat shows went too far in a discussion on disabled rights…

Jasmine has every reason to dislike Matt, and the feeling appears to be mutual. But not everything is as it seems, and soon Jessica and Matt are forced to think again…

Cecelia Ahern: The Year I Met You

Eddig ez a legjobb, amit a szerzőtől olvastam. A munkával kapcsolatos gondolatok nekem most éppen aktuálisak. spoiler de ettől eltekintve nagyon jó történetnek tartom. Hosszú, alapos átgondolás eredményeként érdekes dolgokra jöhet rá saját magáról az ember. Néha a nyilvánvaló tudja a legnagyobb döbbenetet okozni.

Cecelia Ahern: The Year I Met You

I carry on digging the garden, and the deeper I dig into the ground, the deeper I dig into myself. When I have gone deep enough, and I am raw and exposed, it is time to close the wound.

Spring, 17. fejezet.

This year has been the metamorphosis of me. Not on the outside. On the outside I look the same, a little older perhaps. On the inside I have changed. I feel it. And it is like magic. My garden is the mirror of me. My garden that once looked barren and sterile is now full and blooming and ripe. It thrives and it prospers.

This wasn't just my journey, this wasn't just about me falling down and a man rescuing me, though I did trip and you fell and love did happen for me and was mended and repaired for you. This is about you and me, our fall and rise with the seasons, and about what happened when one door closed for both of us. I don't know if I would be this woman now if it weren't for you, and you may not even think you did anything. Most people in life don't have to acitvely do anything to change us, they simply need to be. I reacted you. You affected me. You helped me. You were the oddest friendship, the kindest loaned ear. You told me once during one of those long, dark, cold winter nights at the garden table, tgough you were embarrassed to say it and probably too drunk to remember it now, that you were locked out in the cold and I let you in time and time again. I had a simple reply at the time, but didn't realise the true meaning of my words – you gave me your key.
