Under the greenwood tree,
Who loves to lie with me,
And turn his merry note
Unto the sweet bird's throat:
Come hither, come hither, come hither.
Here shall he see

But winter and rough weather.

Life is a stage on which we play many parts,
First we're babies, warm and wet at both ends, then we're schoolchildren, dragging ourselves to lessons. Next we play young lovers, who mope about, writing ridiculous poetry. Then we're soldiers, diving into the mouths of cannon to prove our courage. In middle age we grow fat and bore the young with our wisdom. Lastly we shrink into the role of the elderly, toothless and deaf, and then we make our final exit, never to return.
