Ryder Angelson személy
– Részeg vagy – közölte. – Az itteni hímek ugyanolyanok, mint bárhol máshol a pasik. Kihasználják a helyzetet.
Reményeim szerint csábos pillantást vetettem rá, és közelebb táncoltam hozzá.
– Lehet, hogy azt akarom, hogy ki is használják.
The huge jovial male, with his mop of dirty-blond hair, was Ryder’s best friend, the one guy he trusted most with his secrets. Kyle was the only other one who knew about my blood being the cure. He had been there in the pit and was helping to cover it all up.
I decided on two things. One: life was too short to live half-assed. If you wanted something, you needed to go for it. And two: I was a hundred percent most definitely falling in love with Ryder. And who could blame me?
“You’ve proven more than once that you’re strong enough, Charlie. But for the sake of my sanity, tell me that if anything dangerous ever happens you’ll always come to us, to me and the guys. We don’t think of ourselves as your babysitters. We’re your friends. We’re your team. We have your back the same way I expect you would have ours.”
I nodded at him. “Yes, I know. And I think all of you are amazing.”
Suddenly Mom was standing over us with a huge grin. “So he’s the one? I was trying to figure out which one of these good looking fellas had caught my daughter’s attention.”
Ryder scrambled to pull me upright, and wiped his palms on his apron.
“It’s nice to officially meet you, ma’am. I’m Ryder Angelson.”
Whoa! Ryder had a last name? Ash and vamps tended to just stick with first names, most of them shedding that last formality of their human persona. I’d never even thought to ask him for a full name.
“Who’s that?” I gestured to the Norse god before us.
My mom sighed and met his gaze before turning to me. “Charlie, this is Carter, your father.”
The one who saved me from my attack was my father?
I was happy to see I wasn’t the only one standing there dumbfounded.
Ryder, Kyle, Sam, and I were all frozen, mouths open, staring at Carter. An Original vampire. In real life. Alive.
Lucas only grinned, looking completely unworried. He turned back to me. “You’re in good hands. I’ll help you get Ryder out of the pit and then you must run. I only ask one thing in return.”
Please don’t say kiss me or some weird shit like that.
“Anything,” I replied, because if it was for Ryder, I truly would do anything.
Lucas’ entire face changed then, desperation in his eyes. “Cure me,” he said.
My mouth dropped open.
“No,” Kyle said.
“I’ll do it,” I said. Sam let out a very animal like growl. “But not today. We’re going to need someone on the inside, especially with Tess here. Are you okay with staying vamp for a little while longer? Until this war plays itself out?”
