“I don’t give a fuck what most people do. I love you. You love me, even though I haven’t heard those words yet.” He stretched his belt out on the floor while I arched a brow. “So if we want to move in together now, we move in together. What-the-fuck-ever.”

My lips twitched. “I’d like to see you explaining it like that, with so much grace, to my parents.”

Reece stood swiftly. “What do you think your parents are thinking we’re doing while you’re staying with me now?”

“They think we’re playing cards and knitting blankets.”

He chuckled as he placed his hands on either side of me and leaned over the bed. “They know we’re fucking each other’s brains out whenever we get the chance.”

“Ew.” I wrinkled my nose. “They think we’re doing pure and wholesome things.”

“Your parents?” He snorted. “They’re probably hoping we give them a grandbaby by next summer.”

“No way, no . . .” I groaned. “You’re probably right.”

My feet refused to move so I came to a complete standstill.
The very bane of my existence was here, who oddly was the same person who had a reoccurring starring role in all my fantasies, even the really dirty ones—especially them.
Reece Anders was here, and I didn’t know if I was going to punch him in the nuts or kiss him.

“Your soul is all rainbows and puppy dog tails, babe.”

I snorted. “My soul is deep and dark and full of other infinite meaningless things.”

The ocean had been fun to paint, but wasn’t entirely accurate.
Because no ocean was as deep as Reece’s eyes.
I needed help.

“Damn, Roxy.” He [Reece] cleared his throat. “You’re going to make me want to keep you.”

“Every time I saw you this past year, I wanted you here. Right here.” To punctuate what he [Reece] said, he rolled his hips, pressing the bulge in his jeans against my core. “And every time you turned and walked away from me, I wanted to give chase.”

“Remember what I told you?”

“You tell me a lot of things. I don’t always pay attention,” I teased.

A brow rose. “It’s okay to not feel all right about any of this.”

“You’re such a shrink. You sure you’re in the right profession?”

“Don’t give me any lip. I’ll turn you over my knee.” His eyes darkened to a cobalt blue. “Actually that sounds like a fantastic idea.”

“Babe, I know what it’s like to be afraid. I watched friends die overseas. I come home and every day I go to work knowing it could be my last. I think about my brother, knowing he faces the same shit I do. I’m afraid of losing you.”
