„You have to have a good heart before you can be trained to fight for what's right. And you, Cade Walker, have the most beautiful heart out of anyone I know. Even when you are moody and brooding,” I add with a smile.
„Don't you think I should have known this? I had no idea she was being bullied. I was completely blindsided whit that phone call. The principal was furious and not all that friendly so-”
„Then I'll go kick his ass”
„It's a woman.”
„Then I'll teach you how to kick her ass!”
„Well, I have to admit, Red, you're pretty good. Why aren't you singing for a living?”
„If I sang for a living, I don't think I would love it as much as I do, and it's not something I want to do for a career. But I'm curious, Cade, when have you ever heard me sing?”
Well, shit! You busted yourself there, you idiot.
Chapter 2
Be still my heart, the man does have a sense of humor in there somewhere.” She looks over at me and laughs at my glare, finding herself fucking hilarious.
“Take it easy, Red. I was just thinking about how ridiculous you looked.”

“What you did was not a dishonor, not to you, your country, or Billy. It was an act of courage.”
Chapter 27
The way the sun has started to set – it casts a glow on her that doesn’t make her look real. It makes her look like something that people try to fill your head with, but I know is bullshit, a fucking angel. But if I did believe in angels, I’d swear this chick was one. Her entire persona screams innocence.
