The Bratcher family of Artesia, New Mexico, were heartbroken when their mum accidentally knocked down their beloved mongrel dog Brownie in the driveway of their home. Despite protests from three-year-old Toby that 'Brownie's not dead', they buried him in a nearby pasture. The next day, the family returned from an outing to find Brownie waiting for them on the porch, covered in dirt. He had been knocked into a coma, come to and dug himself out.
